Happiness: Ways to get out of that funk...

There are a few words that usually pour out of my mouth when I am really trying to have a good day, but nothing seems to work out for me.

"Why has this happened to me???" or "Nothing ever works out the way I want it to!" And sometimes you get the "$%*@?&#)@!!!!" (I know you've said it too!)

These words pour out when I am officially overwhelmed, exhausted, and of course, irrational. At this breaking point, I always forget the ways I can dig myself out. Today was one of those days. I won't get into any details, but it all started when I realized I forgot to dry my clothes after being away for a week. I really needed those clothes.

Then on my way to my closet, I stubbed my toe. Of course, I did. At this point, it is obviously the end of the world and I should probably just go back and lay down, but I had big plans today.
Then I magically unearthed a stray pair of shorts and a t-shirt that didn't make the trip and was able to make it through my plans. But then those failed, (this is where I skimp on the details...) because everything that came out of my mouth was incorrect and everything turned to a mess. My attitude shifted, as did the universe in which I was living.
Bad moods happen to the best of us, but they should never hinder relationships or alter your life in unnecessary ways. A bad day does not equal a bad life, so don't let it get you down. Remember some of these things to help you get out of that funk you've been living in...
Keep up positive energy by doing something good for someone else
Give a smile to a random passer-byer or pay it forward with a latte or scone! (it's happened to me, and it brightened my entire day!)
Play Pandora loudly....Sing even louder....
sing obnoxiously and even miss a few lyrics every now and then, besides what do you care what everyone else thinks? Dance Party!

Take in nature:
float the river, photograph birds, take a hike... whatever it is it will overwhelm your senses not your psyche!
Change the style or color of your hair-This always works for me and it doesn't have to stay that way if you don't like it.
Stay up till sunrise watching your favorite movies
Advisory Note: Maybe not on a work night :)
Exercise, exercise, exercise....
It may not sound like fun, but fitness activities release endorphins and endorphins make us happy!

You tell 'em Elle!
Write down a list of things you are grateful for...
I am not talking about blogging or texting, I am talking about the physical act of writing with a pen and paper. You know the ancient artifacts which founded this country...
When you do write, focus on those things and let them shed light on your attitude.
Remember the best kiss you ever had
Was it during "7 minutes of Heaven"? Was it on a front porch in the rain? Where ever and whoever it was, remember that moment in life.
Stay in your pajamas--- All day!
You don't have to mope around, just get comfy and read a book.
Visit or think about your favorite place:
For me, its my childhood camp on Flathead lake. It changes my mood every time...

Chocolate.

Enough Said.
Be optimistic...It may be difficult, but find the silver lining.

Write your future self a letter..
Hide it somewhere you may forget – an old book, coat, or even DVD cases... something you will take with you if you move or check out before you get rid of it..
Throw yourself into some big project you've always wanted to do...It's now or never... and it feels so good. The fire inside you will guide you through it.
Be interesting
“Oh, didn’t I ever tell you about the time I hiked Kilimanjaro?” Who cares how true it is, right!?

Whatever you do, do it with all your heart. You will find that positive self somewhere inside you when you do and the bad mood will be washed away. It sounds easy, but its not. Keep practicing and you'll find it in no time.
